Mexican Ironwood Carvings
Mexican Ironwood is either a single or multi-trunked evergreen tree, one of the largest and tallest - live "Sonoran Desert" plants, reaching 45 ft tall and living as long as 1,500 years. In its "live state", Ironwood does not have the beauty and texture of the carved and finished products you see pictured. The wood must be naturally aged after it dies. The natural sun, and dessert curing process hardens the wood to an almost petrified state, which can take up to ten years. The luster, color and sensuousness of this gorgeous wood and the beauty of the hand carvings gives the sculptures their unique and exquisite value. These are only of the finest quality!
